Newport Bay is located in ideal habitat with a deep marine canyon right outside the harbor entrance and has the largest Marine Protected Area at over 14 miles just south. Giant blue whales, gray whales on their migration, finback whales, humpback whales, huge pods of common and bottlenose dolphin are viewed. Newport Beach has become one of the top whale watching locations in the world with thriving year-round whale watching opportunities.
During summer and fall, Blue Whales, Minke Whales and Finback Whales will likely be observed off the coast. During the remainder of the year, Southern California waters host Gray Whales as they migrate to feed and have their young. Newport Landing additionally has the opportunity to see resident Southern California Common Dolphin as well as Bottlenose Dolphin, Risso’s Dolphin, and California Sea Lions.

School Field Trips
$11 school/student rate is extended to all public and private schools and home school groups. Choose from any of our whale watching cruise times and days of the week or weekend. Education packets and other materials available through our education coordinator upon request.
Group Pricing
Larger groups can take advantage of our group pricing and can save from 25% to 35% off retail rates. Typically group pricing is only extended to groups of 20 persons or more.
Private Charters
Private whale watching ship rentals are available for all size groups and occasions. Cruises are typically 2.5 hours in length but trip length and departure/return times can be customized upon request. Looking for a unique and memorable event whale watching is a great option for all ages.
